My surgeon suggested Milk of Magnesia after 2 days.

Same here, I tried half a dose first and that helped. Haven't had to take anymore after that, smooth sailing.

I used Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati Ohio ( Lap Band Surgery Ohio :: Lap Band Doctor Trace Curry Ohio ). I just looked at your Bandster profile, we didn't have the same doctor. They give some of the same advice though.

Also, the milk of magnesia might take until the morning to work since it's so gentle on your tummy.

Well it has took the pressure and bloating away, so at least the discomfort went away. I just cant wait to feel normal again.

My surgeon also recommended Milk of Magnesia. I can't stand the original but the mint flavor is fine.

Thank goodness for MofM!!!

I was banded Tues (5/18) and finally had a bowel movement on Friday (5/21). Make sure to drink your Protein Shakes, it helps to avoid Constipation.< /p>

Lots of Water, walking and a stool softener did the trick for me and then I, too, had the runs for about a week. Once you get going it's much better. Best wishes..(the water and walking really help move the bowels)

The pressure was what was killing me. I couldnt handle it anymore 2 tbsp of milk and magnesia and that pain is gone! Hope you feel better.

If you are taking pain meds, you are slowing your bowel movement. Maybe reduce taking pain meds until you have a bowel.

If your drinking Protein drinks, that's where your Constipation problem is coming from. You will have to take Milk of Magnisium. Once you can get off the Protein Drinks, that problem will go away.

That is a terrible feeling, and you feel helpless.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
