mamabeartina 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Hi, My name is Tina, and I was banded on Nov. 10, 2005. It has been 9 days since my surgery and I keep bleeding from my incisitions on my left side. Did anyone else experience this after their surgery? I'm starting to get a little worried about this. Thank you for any advise you have to share.

chichigirl 1 Posted November 20, 2005 I haven't heard of someone actually bleeding from their surgical sites. That's definitely something I would call the doctor about pronto. You don't want an infection to start up and if it continues to bleed, then it's in all liklihood, not healing. Are you by any chance a diabetic? I know that sometimes interferes with the healing process. I know it does terrible things to my skin, but I have been able to heal okay from all of my surgeries. Hope you find out what's going on soon. Please call your doctor first thing Monday, and make sure you're not beginning to show signs of infection, like swelling, redness, heat, pain and a low grade temperature. If you are having any of these symptoms, you may want to call your doctor tomorrow. I know you'll only get his service, but someone should call you back. Good luck and keep us posted on how everything turns out. Cindy
ReneBean 3 Posted November 20, 2005 I don't think you are still supposed to be bleeding. Call your surgeon's office and ask them if you are ok. Take Care!
Guest ladycrusin Posted November 20, 2005 I am currtly 4 weeks post op and an insulin dependant diabetic. even having have high glucose levels can lead to slower healing. I bleed on my left side in the hospital and for about 9 days after getting home the bleeding slowed, by making at least 3 to 4 changes a day and you should see it becoming darker with the changes. I informed my surgen and PCP who both agreed it was just slow healing. Keep lots of clean gauze and have some assist you if possible with appling a little pressue when taping. Try to keep from lifting anything a get plenty of rest. This too will pass. As long as you have no swelling or puss forming things are ok.
