Parvathi 2 Posted November 20, 2005 I went back after a week, but I just sit at a desk all day and type. In the papers I was given though, it stated no heavy lifting for a month ... was Mr. Nottle aware of what your job entailed?

bandayed 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I too work in child care and only part time. I went back after a week but if I worked longer hours, could not have done it. I think (depending on what age group you work with) you may want to reconsider. Aside from the lifting, the bending, getting on & off the floor, the sudden movements to intervene in situations, all caused soreness. I will say that I do not believe that it has caused any residual damage to my body (hernias, slower healing etc) but I was definately uncomfortable while at work....I think you should try it, but be sure to listen to what your body is telling you -- maybe work 1/2 time???? Good luck!
StephanieRaye 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I had my surgery Thursday, and I'm going in on Monday. For the most part, I sit at a desk all day. I think you should be careful going back so soon.
JAYGERL05 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I had my surgery on a Thursday 9/8 and I went back to work on that next Friday 9/17. I sit at a desk all day and I was ok the first day. Sitting down all day kind of made me a little soar so I had to keep getting up. That Monday 9/20 I was back to normal and able to sit down all day.

Spydr 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I feel like a cheater. I had surgery on Wednesday the 16th and went baclk to work that afternoon! I work from home for an answering service so I can work from bed. I have a laptop I use every once in a while. The only problem is when I had to go potty and couldn't get back to the phone fast enough!

Jachut 487 Posted November 21, 2005 Groan, I'll be going home to an almost 2 and a half year old so I'd say I'll get oh, one day off work, lol. The lifting part, I have no idea how I'm going to cope. I think I'll have to send her to my mum's with Doug in the mornings for a few days otherwise I'll probably burst all my staples like I did after my caesar. Mickeynutz 0 Posted November 22, 2005 I am pre-op and was thinking that I would use 2 weeks of vacation time but I'd rather go back to work sooner if I am able to. I am surprised/impressed at how fast some of you went back to work. My work is at a desk/computer/phone all day.
