John's Lap Band Adventures

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is John and I got the Lap Band on May 13, 2010. I'm 46, live in a suburb of Seattle and have been overweight all my life.

On my first doctor visit on May 6th my weight was 361 lbs.

So far... just on my own and following the clinic's food plan I've lost 22 lbs. (The lap band isn't inflated yet.)

I go in for my first adjustment on June 14th.

I've decided to keep my own blog of ALL of my experiences around the Lap Band at:

John's Lap Band Adventures

This blog follows my adventures and experiences as I try to adjust before and after having LAP BAND surgery and trying to make a life long change for me and my family.

I would welcome the traffic and comments.

Thanks,

-- John...

Wow John, you saw the dr. one week and had surgery the very next week? Wish I could have done it that way.

My same thoughts :cursing:

Very lucky of you, they didn't have you do any of the routine tests to get cleared? and in 1 week you were able to get the money from your mortgage? (read that off your blog) How did you manage all of that?

Give me some pointers kuz mine is taking for ever :)

I didn't have to have a stress echo, abdominal ultrasound, upper GI swallow, or blood work. The clinic didn't require it. I'm in good health, maybe that's why.

After I attended the seminar I called the clinic the next Monday and scheduled 3 appointments:

Consultation with a nurse (we talked about what to expect, nutrition, what to eat before and after the surgery, the whole plan that the clinic subscribes to to make sure you're successful).

Psych Evaluation (to see if I'm psyched out or not)

Meeting with Doctor

The doctor required me to have a sleep study because of my past history of sleep apnea and he had his office call and set that up for me. They had an opening so I had the sleep study that same night. The review of the study was a couple days later.

I applied for a home equity line of credit with my bank and was approved the same day. I went in and signed the papers a day or two later and then had to wait 3 days for the account to fund. Yes, it was very fast.

I've gone into a lot more detail on my blog if you'd like more info: John's Lap Band Adventures

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
