StephanieRaye 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Hello everyone! I recently have been banded (Thursday), and I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for re: bandage care. I know it probably differs doctor-to-doctor, but can someone give me some general care instructions? Do I leave the bandaids on? Change them daily? If so, for how many days? When can I leave them off? Thanks in advance
Quilter Mom 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I left mine one for several day, changing them daily. As long as your stitches aren't oosing (sorry) I would leave them off after that so the air can help heal. What did you doctor say? Quilter Mom
Jammin & Losin 1 Posted November 20, 2005 My Dr said to leave my port sight incision covered for 1 week. Mine had terri strips on it and he said the longer you can leave it (at least a week) it will hold together and heal faster. The rest of my incisions Dr. put some type of glue on. The glue disolved in a week or so... and BOY did they ich!!!! Good luck. Also be sure to use anti bacterial soap when showering to keep the germs out!!! princess_n_thep 2 Posted November 20, 2005 We need a bit more info. Do you have stitches, glue, steri strips or staples??? I had glue. The air was the best healer for me.
StephanieRaye 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I have stitches with steri strips. I changed the bandages today for the first time after a shower, and some of the strips came off with the bandaids. They're itching like mad, and I just figured they might heal faster if they were exposed to the air. I can't find the info from my doctor.
