So my surgery went smoothly and I am recovering well with little abdominal pain. My only complaint, which is frustrating and unfortunate, is I have this upper thigh/hip numbness and occasional sharp pain/hot pain. So I've asked my surgeon's office and they told me not to worry about it, but if it got worse to go to my PCP. The numbness seems to be getting better, but with more feeling comes more of the sharp, hot pain pricks? I really wanted to avoid going to my PCP for her to tell me it was a bruised nerve and she can't really do anything about it. So I asked a doc online. This is the answer I got, and I believe it to make sense of what is going on with me- I wanted to pass it on in case anyone else is going through this.

Here is the doc's answer: "This pain is probably from a stretched nerve / muscle from the " modified lithotomy " position that can be given for a Lap Band surgery. This can also be from inappropriate sleep posture, as suggested by the nurse, causing a stretched nerve. I would advise you to rest and apply gentle heat to the painful area. This should pass off within a few days." I researched a little more and found info about "compartment syndrome" which discussed laying in a modified lithotomy position in combination with compression socks (I wore these in the hosp to prevent blood clots) causing nerve pain and area numbness. So there you go, I had to a lot of searching for this info, but I think it saved me a trip to the doc. Hope it helps. By the way, I really, really want to eat a giant hamburger!:w00t:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
