6 days Post-Op. Finally hungry. Can I cheat a day??

Recommended Posts

Not really cheat, lol. Just wondering if I could go to full liquids one day early. Would it really make that much of a difference?

The Dr gave us the post of diets for a reason. LOL

I cheated and I paid dearly and it set me back a good 3 or 4 days.

DON"T cheat unless you get the ok from the Dr.

And really? What's one more day going to do to you?

Don't do it, I did and it wasn't anything crazy, but I paid for it, and won't do it again. But, I did have a small amount of apple sauce sugar free, and was ok with that.

Cheating is such a slippery slope...

I was 5 days out of surgery and was so hungry I couldn't stand it. I called my doc and he said it was ok to start on full liquids and soft foods. That first Protein shake was heaven. I had gotten so weak and had started chewing my tongue and bottom lip. I couldn't stand another broth or Jello..

I head back to the doc tomorrow... hopefully I'll move on to stage 4... eating real food. I'd love to have a salad.

LAP-BAND® Surgery was May 3.

My surgeon has her patients go straight to real food (from clear liquids) on day 4 post-op. She has no full liquid stage or puree/mushy/soft phase. I was eating Christmas dinner 8 days post-op. All doctors are different so do w/that information what you like. ;->

Ok, so yesterday I was post op day 5, and my doctor said I could have yogur. Yum...And today, I went ahead and had cream of chicken Soup, oh boy was it good, and it worked well in my tummy. Technically, I shouldn't have had it until tomorrow, but to each his own...

I may take that into consideration, but won't go crazy, thanks!!!

It is funny how all docs are different. I had surgery on Monday & was released on Tuesday. WhenI left they said to stay on full liquids until next weeks apt. I have been having Protein Shakes & Tomato Soup.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
