I'm trying to decide if I need a fill so I'm looking for some insight. I have 5.5cc in my 10cc band and I'm feeling some pretty good restriction. I had my last fill last Wednesday and up until Sunday I was feeling AWESOME restriction, to the point I was thinking, maybe I'm at my sweet spot! I was only eating 4-6 ounces at a time and was feeling full for 3-4 hours if not longer. But starting yesterday I'm still only eating 4-6 ounces but it's only keeping me full for 2-3 hours max. I'm thinking I need to go in for a fill. From what I've read I should be staying full for 4-5 hours right?

I think it might be too early to be sure. I've had the same thing happen in the past, only to experience increased restriction again after a couple of weeks.

My doctor is willing to give a little leeway if I really need a fill--he isn't insistent on me waiting the full 4-6 weeks. But he would be really reluctant to give on given the circumstances you've described, I think.

It's just too close to your fill to know what is going to happen.

For the first two fills I have to wait a month but once those are over with my surgeon said that if I'm not feeling good restriction within a week to call and make an appointment. Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm hoping that yesterday was just a fluke day. Today I had a Protein Shake for Breakfast at 8:00, it's now 11:30 and I'm my stomach is just starting to think about lunch.< /p>

When you lose weight, your band will loosen as well. So maybe that is why you feel like you need a fill. That happened to me last time and after my fill I was "just right."

I thought that I needed another after 6 weeks (I lost about 11 pounds). But be careful to make sure that you really need a fill. I went in for another because I was 3-3.5 hours before I was hungry and I had .25 cc added. I was WAY too tight. I waited it out to see if it would get better for a few days. I ended up couging and vomiting in my sleep and not able to keep down Water. Went to see my doc today and he took it ALL out. My entire 5.25 CC's were completely removed. He said that I was inflamed and it could be very dangerous. He needed to let the swelling go down. I cried the entire way there when he told me that I had to have it all removed. I have to now drink liquids for 2 days, then solids, and I go back next week to start refilling. I guess what I'm trying to say, is don't end up like me. Although, I did lose 9.5 pounds in less than 5 days, just not the right way. Good luck with everything.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
