Fills...How many before you felt restriction

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering how many fills you had before you felt restriction and started to really lose weight? And how long your fills lasted you? I have had 3 but they hardly last long and I am just maintaining when I need to be losing. I know I need to add working out but haven't just yet...starting that next week and hope it will help. :) Today I am feeling sorry for myself and eating bad things. :) Need some motivation...

I know exactly how you feel. Its a never ending battle.. this isn't the easy way out and that's the first thing you need to accept or it simply wont work.

I had 5 fill and wasnt feeling restricted until the last.. i have since had some Fluid taken out because i was spitting up almost everything i ate.

I find that it doesn't actually make you feel like you MUST stop eating.. more like you can stop eating. Sometimes i have to tell myself to stop and then i realise hours later that I havnt thought about food at all.

It doesn't do all the work and i had to learn that the hard way. You must be in charge of how much you eat and then enjoy not being DESPERATE for food like you used to be.

Eat larger meals of good nutritios low calorie food while you are getting closer to restriction.

This weight loss thing has been significantly slower than i had hoped. But be grateful when you maintain your weight.. remember when you would gain weight every day??

I am up to 5 fills and 7 cc's. I feel really not much restriction. I mean I can't eat everything I used to eat but I do feel full.

from what most people say it happens at a different number for everyone but in my support group most people got that restricton between 8 and 9 cc's.

I still feel hungry but not nearly as much as I did before the band.

First things first..don't feel sorry for yourself, feel happy that you made this move to improve your life. Secondly, I personally had surgery on Jan. 20 and have lost all my weight (66 lbs.) with absolutely zero fills. I found a healthy meal plan that worked for me, incorporated exercise into my routine and have not found it necessary to get any fills. My weight loss has slowed to a healthy 1-2 lbs. per week and I feel totally great! I have read many posts on this site to know that some people have better luck with fills and some don't need as many fills to accomplish their goal. I chose mind over matter and have come close to reaching my goal. Keep your spirits high and don't let the little obstacles hinder your progress. Whenever you feel down or need motivation, come read some of these posts to keep your spirits high. good luck!

Everyone is different - some people feel restriction from the start and others can take 6+ fills! It also matters how aggressive your doctor is, regarding fills.

I had fill #3 last week and I really notice a difference this time. I finally feel like my band is working, and it's not me doing all the work!

Just remember to slllloooowwww down when you eat (that's the biggie for me, too!)...it takes your body time to catch up to your mind.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
