I know one of the first things my doctor said I needed to stop doing was using a straw. So since my surgery 4 months ago I haven't. But now I am starting to wonder am I the only one?

Do you use a straw? I am tired of spilling my crystal light.

I got a Blender Bottle at the health food store. It is closed with a drinking hole and contains a metal blender ball that is sort of like and egg beater that stays in the bottom. You shake it to blend. I refuse to pay for Water and I can use tap Water with this and put in Crystal Light or my Protein powder or Fiber and it all mixes well.

When you drink out of it, you tipo it up and drink out of the hole so it is like drinking from a bottle and no air gets swallowed. I have 4 of them and take them everywhere.

I do not use a straw.

No, I don't use a straw, because:

1) My doc said no and

2) it absolutely removes any possibility of my drinking a milkshake or frappacino type beverage and with them being a weakness that will defeat the band having the rule makes it easy to keep my resolve up! :)

I do use a straw.

I was never told not to.

I have no discomfort and find I take smaller sips (from a bottle or cup I gulp and get pain, from the straw, none)

I use straws. Infact, when I get Water from the doc. after a fill they give it to me with a straw. As stated above, I find it easier to take nice small sips using a straw. Guess every doc. if different.

I'm another straw user. My doctor never mentioned any problem with using straws. I've never had any problem.

I still use a straw. I don't have any problems with using a straw. I guess it depends on the doctor, but it shouldn't since we pretty much have the same band...

I was never told not to use a straw, so I have never stopped and have had no complications.

All the time...No problems. I waited until I was eating solid foods but never had a problem with it. I would use one only if you feel comfortable. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
