Surgery scheduled May 27th

Recommended Posts

Hello, My name is Jason and I got my surgery date on May 27th. I go in on May 20th for the blood work, upper G.I and EKG and also start my clear liquid diet on the 20th. Dr. Wagner's office submitted my paperwork to the insurance this past Monday and it was approved 2 days later on Wednesday. And they called me right away with the surgery date. So far this process is going fairly smooth for me, and the staff at Dr. Van Wagner's office in St. Louis have been awesome. I will post pre-op pics soon.

I went in and had all my pre-op testing done yesterday and started my clear liquid diet. Yesterday was really tough on nothing but liquids and I went to bed at 7:30 because all I could think about was how hungry I was. Today has not been that bad on the diet. I can't wait until next Thursday! My Doctor and I decided I will get the Realize band.

Hi, my name is Koren, and i am seriously considering getting a lap band, i have been dieting for as long as i can remember. I think my biggest problem will be getting the support i need from my family. I think they are afraid of surgeries, but i am not. Not if it is going to help me in the long run. i know all the complications that come along with it. When i go see my pcp i am going to tell that i want to get the lapband. i am so glad i found this forum for which i can vent with you guys. how is everyone doing so far and what are you stats...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
