Hi,

New to this site; going to get the LAP-BAND®® on July 15th. Very excited but I am very aware that it is only a tool and it is only as good as the commitment I am willing to give to change my bad habits to good ones and have a new lifestyle change! Out with the old and in with the new healthy me!

Wishing you all the best of luck with your journey to a healthier you!

Any suggestions on how to work this site is appreciated!

Welcome ladies to the best thing you will ever do for you! It will have its challenges but you will overcome this addiction to food and your new addiction will be a fun life! I was banded on 4/7 I am a week away from my first fill, it has been tough because I loved my cokes, and candy...etc. Now my new passion is exercise and making the right choices, that is not to say that I don't regress and have something I shouldn't but I do not beat myself up over it. Once it is done I go back to making the right choices.

Good Luck

Hello everyone,

My name is Diana and I was banded on 5/11 so am 4 days post op. Things are going good so far. Both my husband and daughter have had the RnY, my daughter in 2006 and husband in 2008 so am familiar with all of their struggles, I didn't feel that the RnY was the right choice for me and decided on the band earlier this year. Had my first consult with the surgeon on the 19th of Feb and after all of the required appointments and insurance approval was scheduled for 5/11.

So many things are slightly different between the RnY and the band that I am looking for others that have or are going through the same things.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Diana

There is a site that is free Called SparkPeople that is easier to use and there are lap band people on it that would love to help you through this....I just came here to see if there was anyone getting it done in July like me.

I would say talk to your nutritionist...you shouldn't be hungry now or ever!

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
