I'm just over a week post-op and I'm feeling very lethargic and totally don't want to even drink shakes. I look in the fridge and just want to throw up! :w00t:

I suppose it doesn't help that I've got some kind of throat/mouth infection but I'm just not interested in food. Anyone else felt this way and moved above it?

I don't know about wanting to throw up but I'm certainly not interested in food of late. I only force down the Profect for the Protein. I am really scared about my hair falling out.

My surgery was only a few days ago and I was certain I'd be hungry all the time with the diet recommendations but I really have not. I keep my spirits up reading from the success stories on this forum and how someday soon I will join them. Hang in there with me.

I suppose indulging in some success stories might do the trick. Yelp- hair falling out? I have a love affair with mine. Protein shakes it is! Dx

I just got some mouth gargle that numbs everything... aah, bliss!

Initially, but it doesn't last that long. Hunger starts to creep back in after a few weeks if there isn't any fill in the band.

Yeah, I am pretty happy with mine as well. Don't forget the Biotin (5000 mcg daily)!

Try some creamed soups! They really helped me feel better. Best wishes!!!

Biotin? Never heard of it but I'll Google it. ^w^

I've started taking Clinicians Vitamin and Mineral Boost (powder) and it's fantastic. I looked around online to see if it's available elsewhere (my Mum sells it through her business) and the prices are crazy so I won't recommend it for that. But it's a great product. I put it in a little bit of kiwifruit juice. Om nom!

I get banded monday and have been on a pre-op diet since may 3rd. I havent been hungry for about a week and a half now. I have to force myself to drink my shakes. Today I had a venti skinny iced latte from startbucks (im allowed coffee) and it filled me up, i was so full! I felt like i just ate a thanksgiving dinner.

Everyone keeps saying they are hungry but I can relate to you when you say you look in the fridge and just want to throw up.

Oooh, I had the same thing pre-op. Everyone would look at me like I'm some freak for being stuffed silly on a cup of Fluid. But for some weird reason, it was just very, very fulfilling.

I joked with my surgeon that with the fullness and weight-loss on it, I could just go on doing that forever and skip the banding. If only it were that easy!

Good luck for Monday!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
