Hello, i was banded on 4/22/10 and have lost no weight and doc will not fill until 6/2 (s/n...had a hernia so had to have two surgeries in one) I am healing and can finally lay on my stomach without hurting....but i am NOT loosing weight...actually bouncing around 3 pounds up or down day to day...i did the liquid, pured, soft and today i am suppose to start the solid foods.....I do the Vitamins and Calcium intake but the weight is not going anywhere,....doc just gave clearance to work out so i am starting that......Can someone explain what bandster hell is? I think i am in it........:w00t:

Yup, you are in the thick of it! So am I! Ugh, it's frustrating isn't it?

Bandster hell is the period of time from surgery until the first fill (some say it's till you find the sweet spot after a few fills) where your body is healing all the internal chaos we have put it though with the pre op diet and the surgery itself. It's also the time period where our appetite comes back temporarily.

Lots of people post band don't lose weight in that time period, some do. I have learned in the past week to really remind myself that each person's journey is unique so I try not to compare to other people... I did say try.. lol

Hugs,

Heather

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
