BumpusTN 0 Posted May 14, 2010 I have so many new sensations that I'm having a hard time discerning one feeling from another. I ate some bits of shredded chicken in broth last night (about 1/3 cup) and since then, I feel like I have a softball stuck just below my breastbone. I have reverted back to liquids since then but am concerned that I might have done something wrong. How do you know if your pouch is full and not emptying? I've made up my mind to stay on liquids for the next couple of days, but I'm even concerned about how much liquid I can intake because of the bloating sensation. :w00t: Banded 5/11/
IAmJacksLapBand 5 Posted May 14, 2010 I actually like the softball feeling. It made sure i would not eat the rest of the evening. It usually happens to me when I had too big of a bite or did not chew well enough. sometimes, I can feel the larger its going through the band... like a little pop. BetsyB 9 Posted May 14, 2010 That feeling may or may not indicate that you have something stuck. Often, a little stuck incident results in swelling that perpetuates the sensation for a while. (This swelling is why many of us revert to liquids for a day or so if we've had a stuck incident.) Chances are, your stomach is still emptying. If you're able to drink fluids without them coming right back up, it's likely that you're feeling the aftereffects (increased swelling) of reintroducing solids too soon. You're very, very freshly postoperative. Is solid chicken part of your doctor's recommended regimen for reintroducing foods? It's something that is difficult for many of us, even much farther out from the starting gate, to tolerate. I'd review the "rules" so that you don't cause yourself unnecessary discomfort.
