hi there,i was just wondering if any 1 could tell me have they had surgery carried out by mr woodcock?im just after a few answers really,i attended the bariatric seminar held by mr woodcock 3 weeks ago, which i was sent to by my gp several months ago,now after the seminar he told me to ring the secretary the next morning and make an appointment to see the nurse etc,how long approx do you wait for the appointment?also he said he would prefer for patients to carry out a food management program which i did the food for thought group back in 2007,unfortunatly i only attended 7 out of 12 sessions as i lost my father to cancer,in his seminar he specifys that 75% must be done at a group,do you think i will still get an appointment to go and see the nurse etc?how long does it take once you have been to see nurse etc to get surgery?many thanks if any 1 can help me xx jo

Jo, i appreciate you wrote this thread ages ago but i'm just trawling through .... I gatecrashed Mr. Woodcock's seminar on Thursday - he's fabulous isn't he!! I would ring the secretary and tell her you've done the food for thought and as long as you have some kind of history of dieting and problems - doctors appointments - different diets - exercise then I'm sure you won't have to redo ... i'm on the program lighten up through northumberland and have done about 7 of dietician and exercise. update me - where are you now? have you had surgery??

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
