I went to a seminar in Feb. 2010 and at that time was not able to afford the surgery, thru the grace of god my husband got a new job with great health insurance. I do not have to pay out of pocket but I do have to see a nutritionist for 3 months prior to surgery. I had my first appointment today and I am so glad, she is helping me learn how to eat and choose the proper foods so when I have the surgery I will be able to continue my new healthy lifestyle. I have been looking thru all the posts on this site and it is nice to know that there is so much support and that I am not the only person wondering and asking the same questions. I hope to make a lot friends and find a lot of support now, during and after my surgery.

Hi Krek, Welcome :w00t:!!! I saw my nutritionist in Jan. It helped me alot. I've only lost 12 lbs. but my diabetes is under control and using much less insulin.

I just found the forums this week and it really helps knowing there are so many nice people in the same boat and willing to help. Carol D'

Hi there Evonne! I noticed your name because my middle name is Evonne and I thought I was the only person that didn't spell it with a "Y". Awesome! :w00t:

I've been on this forum for a very short period of time, but I have seen so many helpful posts. Everyone is very willing to help with any questions. Like you, I am just starting on this journey. I have to go through 6 months of supervised weight loss before my paperwork can be submitted to the insurance company. I am looking forward to this journey and I hope you keep us updated on yours.

I did not think anyone in the world spelled their name with a "E", it is very exciting to know my mom did not spell my name wrong, LOL:lol: (ongoing joke in our family). Anyways, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one going through the waiting game, it feels like 3 months is going to be forever, I can't imagine waiting 6 months. How are you coping with that? I am constantly looking for ways to divert my attention to other things, but my mind keeps coming back to the surgery and whether or not it is going to be a success. I have waited so long to be able to have this opportunity. I am glad I found this site and can get support.

My family also jokes that my parents spelled Evonne wrong or just made up a spelling:laugh:

6 months does seem like an eternity. At least I can say I started 2 months ago and just have 4 more to go.......wait, 4 still sounds like forever!! LOL

But seriously....It seems like a long time, but I just try to keep myself busy. That's easy with a husband and 2 kids. I'm also trying to look at this as an opportunity to work on my exercise and diet plan. I've already been to the nutritionist, but I still need to work on my eating. I figure 4 months of waiting should give me some time to get myself together. I also need to get back in gear with going the gym so I'm sure the 4 months will fly by.....I hope!:w00t:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
