Glass is Half Full Girl 0 Posted May 13, 2010 You're definately not alone! I think most of us second guess before we have the surgery. I know I made a last minute call to my Doctor a few days before my surgery. I needed comfort in knowing that I was doing it for the right reasons. I ended up talking with my surgical nurse. She answered all my pre-surgery questions and helped put my mind at ease. I have been on every diet out there and lost and gained but never got even close to where I want to be. It's not about dieting, it's about retraining our brain and like any addiction, it's a process. The surgery is helping me by forcing me not to overeat. I am only 2 weeks+ post surgery and still learning but there are definate consequences after surgery if you overeat. Nothing earth shattering for me but it takes a lot less to fill me up and is way too uncomfortable to do so now so no choice but to eat less. I know this was the right decision for me and everyone is correct, only you can make that decision. Ask yourself this: " where will I be in 1,2 or 5 yrs. if I don't do this"?. I was all set in my mind to have this surgery then I went to the seminar last night and everything changed now I'm scared and confused about wether its the right thing to do or not I have tried really hard in the past to lose weight and have but then I gain it all back and then some maybe I'm letting my fear get the best of me maybe i"m just scared about the surgery its self I don't know anymore everyone says its a decision I have to make on my own. MrsCabes 2 Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) I think it's completely normal to second guess yourself - I know I did. BUT - I'm 3 months post op and lapband was the absolute best decision I've made, regarding my health and mental well-being. I wish I would have done it earlier. You will be fine - it's not the "easy" way out. It's work - but it's also work that's going to be successful for you! ETA: I've lost 42 pounds in 3 months (42 pounds I know I won't "find" again)...so, yes, the results are worth it! JazzyRayne 7 Posted May 14, 2010 My surgery date is June 3rd and I have questioned myself as well. I think its normal. But somethings that motivated me was reading success stories on this site as well as looking at other's before and after pictures. I was going to have this surgery when I was 18 years old... but I backed out. If i would have gotton the surgery when I was 18... I would be in a much better physical state right now. So I am not waiting any longer... Im ready to have a new me! Try reading success stories... and any questions or concerns talking to your dr can really help. Or even talking to the people on this site is quite helpful.
