Hello,

I am interested in tweeking my menu so I can maximize my weightloss. It seems like since I've had my last fill, I can only eat a little bit of food at a time. While I am not complaining, I want to be able to eat the right things...can you give me some ideas of what you're eating and how much weight you're losing.

Right now, I'm averaging about 10-11 lbs per month.

Lower carbs, Higher Protein. Although I have to say that 10 to 11 lbs a month is nothing to shake a stick at.

10-11 pounds a month is fantastic! And about what I'm losing (though I've been losing like crazy this week, since I had my 2nd fill last Friday).

I typically eat:

b-fast- two scrambled eggs, and either 1 pce whole wheat toast w/ promise OR a half cup of berries

lunch- 3 oz Protein, plus veggies and maybe 1/2 c whole grain (like brown rice or whole wheat pasta)

Dinner- same sort of thing as lunch- but if I had the whole grain at lunch, I won't have it at dinner- but I will have some starchier/legume type thing (say, 1/2 c black Beans or some sweet potato)

If I have a snack (and I often do because I teach at the Y in the evenings and often can't have dinner until 8pm (so I'll have a snack at 4pm)- it is typically Greek yogurt (vanilla) and 1/2 c berries.

I average about 1200-1600 calories per day, and I burn 2100-2600 calories (per my bodybugg). I aim for a 1000 cal deficit per day.

I think that is great as well. That was what my dr say a typical weight loss of 3 lbs a week was good. I agree that make sure you get your Protein first and eat that mainly it increase your metabolism, but veg and Fiber to keep your bm ok. I ate to much protein and nothing else the first week I could eat solids and man did I pay for it lol trish

I eat low carb, high-ish Protein, around 800-1000 calories/day---and exercise every single day. And I'm thrilled with a loss of 11 or so pounds a month.

I'm not sure it's realistic to expect much more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
