I have 5cc's in my Realize band, it has a cc max of 9cc's.

I am going to have another fill at the beginning of June.

Hoping that will bring more restriction. My doctor wants me to get to the point, where I can ONLY eat 1/2 cup MAX!

I think that is known as your SWEET SPOT!

I am getting back on plan,

eating more of an "Atkins" type diet.

I need to stop eating salty things, drink more Water, eat more Protein & Fiber food items. NO CARBS!!!

Things will get better I know...

but

for those who think this is "THE EASY WAY OUT",

I think NOT!

Patience is a Virtue,

its like a muscle, that has to be worked.

THINKING POSITIVE!

Hi everyone!!! I know how you feel about being a slow loser. I was banded in August 2008 and it has been slow going. In January I received my 4th fill. I finally found my sweet spot. I have been steadily loosing since then and I am pleased to announce I have finally gotten below 200 pounds. Just hang in there!!!!

I felt like I was losing slowly, but then I did a search and like everyone said the band is for losing 1-2 pounds a week. I guess when people get weight loss surgery they expect insane results quickly. It also seems that people around the patient want to see insane results. It makes us feel bad when those around us question our "losing abilities." You know?

I was just wondering how everyone is doing?

I haven't lost anymore weight. I play around with the same pound or two. Lose gain. I added in jogging as much as I can on my walk. I still can't get a fill due to reflux. I guess what frustrates me is not so much the over all amout of weight loss. It is that most of it came off right after surgery and after a fill. Any thoughts?

I am in the slow losers club too, but that's okay. I would like to see more weight loss, but I understand this is a lifestyle change. At least the lbs are going down instead of up:)

I have had 3 fills and since my last fill on 5/18, I have not been able to eat much. I am very tight in the morning and can't eat until at least noon. I seem to have pushed out my eating schedule. I know eating later in the evening is not good. I guess it's all part of the adjustments I am making in my life.

I found a sticky note I made for myself dated May 3rd. Weight was 271. Today June 2nd. I weigh 264.5 So in one month I lost 6.5 lbs. Which is 1.63 a week. I guess it's not as bad as I thought. 1-2 is where my dr. wants me. I must have lost track with the up and down. I feel better now. I have always been able to drop weight so easily before so it gets hard when I see others droping faster whether it is with the band or not.

I do try to remember it's a lifestyle change and try not to think of it as a diet. I know it's mean but when I get the snide remarks at work or the comparisons. I secretly can't wait for them to gain it back. b/c I know most WILL gain it back and in the end I will be a better me.

I'm in the club too! My physical activity is limited because I need knee replacement surgery. So weight loss is slow but steady. Remember slow but steady wins the race!!! You are doing great! Best wishes!!!

Everyone loses at different paces. Do not get discouraged. It's better to lose it slower anyway. You have to look at it differently, its not the pace that you are losing the weight, it's the fact that you ARE LOSING THE WEIGHT!! You are all doing wonderful. Stick to the plan, watch the calorie intake, drink your 64 oz of fluids a day, and if you can't really exercise at least try and walk. For those that can't walk, there are tons of exercises that you can do from a chair that will actually increase your heart rate so you can lose weight. Make sure that you are getting in your 80-90 grams of Protein a day also.

I have spinal stenosis and sometimes it gets pretty bad. When it's not bothering me I walk. Lately, I've been able to walk every morning. I think it's the warmer weather. That said, please share the website or book or wherever I can information on exercises that I can do sitting down that will increase my heart rate, please. I could really use them when my back won't allow me to walk.

Thanks.

I for one would rather be a slow loser. Being busty and losing quickly pre-op the girls have started to move south. I hoping with my age, activity, and Protein intake they will bounce back so I won't need further surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
