Group Therapy with a specialist!

Recommended Posts

Hey NC over achievers! I love that idea!

I spoke with Loretta last night and we are hoping to find 2 or 3 more people who would be interested in group therapy with a professional counselor who has had WLS, (the slow way), and is a professional.

If any of you are interested please let me know.

As we all know this is a heart, mind and soul process. To learn from someone who has been trained to counsel, and has been where we are is truly a gift.

This is in no way to replace our monthly meetings.

Dianne,

Tell me more, i.e. cost, frequency, duration, location, etc.? Needless to say, I won't commit to anything until I know I'm getting surgery; does a "definite maybe" work? I like oxymorons (sp?) :)

It would be in the Stonecrest Ballentyne area, which is the Rea Rd exit off of 485.

Most likely it would be every 2-3 weeks. I have to check with Debbie on that it maybe only once a month.

She told me she would keep the cost down around 15-20 a session.

I can let you know next week sometime the exact details.

Thanks for the offer...but for one that is too far for me to drive. Uptown or something like that would be better for me. The first of the year I made a pack to myself to start going to Angela's support group meetings at Presby it's not just for Dr. V's patients anyone can come. They are free. So Thanks again for the offer...it's very nice of her to offer her time.

Rea Rd. is a bit of a hike from Belmont too. I may reconsider at a later date, but for now I think I'll have to pass too. Thanks for keeping us in mind!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
