Help fighting boredom

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Im new to all of this (second fill) and I never relized how much extra time i would have on my hands after I stopped over eatting. I dont know what to do with myself anymore. Sometimes I feel like a trapped animal. Last weeking I almost broke down in tears from boredom. :)

Im too overweight to do a lot of activities that I would like to do and I have discovered that almost 100% of my interaction with family and friends takes place over some sort of eatting event. What do you guys do to burn time? I have been to the zoo, but it was so hot that I was miserable. I've gone shopping way more than I can afford. Now what?

I live in San Antonio and I looked for a LAP-BAND® support group here in town but couldnt find one. I've even thought of trying to start one, but Im not sure how to go about it.

Hello, my family is a bit that way as well. I'm a good cook myself and also my sister likes to go out and have lunch but she is much slimmer than I. I read stuff on the computer in the meantime if the weather isn't too great. I clean the house, make phone calls, visit other websites - anything to help. Sometimes shopping for low priced stuff. count calories with calorie king - do research into calories and carbs of foods on calorie king and plan menus - it really helps me a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
