I am 15 days post-op today. On Monday, my smallest wound decided to open and say "hello." The surgeon is not worried and thinks it will close in a few days.

Today I woke up and the muscle around my port feels extremely sore, almost like it is heavily bruised. I have not had any trouble with it at all until today. First thing I thought is that I turned during the night and the port came unattached. I can feel it and it seems to be in place. Could I have pulled one of the sutures?

Anybody had a smiliar experience with their port area?

I would suggest that you see your physician. An infection of any kind at the port site is something that you need to keep a close eye on. If the incision has opened, I would be a little concerned.

See your Doctor, Just to be on the safe side.

S.

Hi , I had the same thing. At first I didn't even feel the port and wasn't even sure where it was! After a couple of weeks the port started hurting and I was concerned, but it went away in about a week (or less). So You may be okay, too! :)

I hope so. I am so paranoid about everything and do not want to have to go back in to have anything reattached, closed, removed, etc. I just want to get to the adjustment phase so I can make this band work.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Congrats on the surgery..and I can tell you I am 4 months out and my port site is still very tender. I talked to my Dr. about this and she has the band. She said that even after a few years her port can be sensitive from time to time. If it really starts to bother you talk to your Dr.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
