misszizka 0 Posted May 12, 2010 :smile2:Good for you! I started looking into lap band in Nov of 08. I chickened out for a while and did a lot of research before I felt that this is what I want to do. My surgery is scheduled for June 24th. I am very nervous about it, just because its surgery, and because of the big changes. I am worried about paying for it though. My insurance covers most of it, but I have to pay $7,000. Better than no coverage, but I don't exactly know where to get that kind of money. My dad is going to help me and I think the rest is going to go on a credit card. The hospital told me I could make payments (hafta pay $3500 up front) but they will be around $300 to pay off in 1 yr. LostInSideMyself 0 Posted May 12, 2010 Yeah I know what you mean I am in the same boat with the funding of what my ins doesnt cover but from what I hear that is all sorted out after it all, If not we will see I am just in that state of mind I have to do something as this has gotten way out of control, Good Luck with yours also!!!! I also researched first... saw the doc... waited a year thinking that I could diet on my own (again).. found out (again) that I couldn't do it on my own and went back to the surgeon one year later and started the 'process' to get LAP-BAND® surgery. It all took 6 months to get all of the required tests and appointments finished and then to get the approval from my insurance company. I didn't get the approval from the insurance company until 4 days before my surgery. What a stressful time that was! I was banded on May 3 and today is my first follow up appointment with my surgeon.
