July 13 is my date. Hard to believe it is less than two weeks away. I don't have a "prescribed" pre-surgery diet, but am trying to keep it low carb and fat/ high lean protien. Totally cut out fast and fried foods.

If you are having surgery in July and would like to keep in touch by email, let me know! Would love the support!

Im officially banded! I had my surgery July 1, but I had it in mexico so i just got home last night. Surgery went really well, liquid diet is not so fun lol but Im doing pretty good. So excited to have it all over with! When I woke up in recovery I actually freaked out for a second bc I didnt feel any pain right away and I was afraid something happened and they werent able to give me the band. I dont know why I was so worried that would happen lol but anyways I started to try and sit up a little bit and felt the pain and couldnt help but smile because I knew that meant it was in there and from here on out its just following the "rules of the band" best of luck to everyone having surgery coming up!

Hi everyone,

I finally got my golden ticket. My surgery date is July 21. I can't wait. I am so excited, but scared about it too. I have been heavy my whole life, I'm not to sure what I will look like at a healthy weight and that is kind of a scary thought too. Does anyone else feel this way?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
