Hello Bean 0 Posted May 11, 2010 Can anyone recommend books that you read or are reading concerning weight loss surgery? These might include books that helped you make the decision to have surgery, books that helped you in the process and post surgery food plan or cook books, etc. Thanks -Lea
kerri76 0 Posted May 11, 2010 I am almost finished with the book by Khaliah Ali called Fighting Weight. She had the Lap-band several years ago and her story is inspiring and educational.
uscgal97 0 Posted May 11, 2010 Hi There - I read Lost and Found: A Guide To The LAP-BAND Journey by Dr. Nirmal Jayaseelan and Cynthia Jones O'Kelly. I thought it was okay. It definitely gave me a lot of information and answered many of the questions I had. There are a number of other books out there but I found this one to be fairly comprehensive. It's about $20 and I ordered it on Amazon.com. I provided the link. Good luck!
BetsyB 9 Posted May 11, 2010 Before and After by Susan Maria Leach, the owner of Bariatric Eating (which operates another great website). It discusses her experience with gastric bypass---but is relevant to bandsters, too. The eating plan is very helpful, IMO, as are the recipes at the end. (The website has tons of great recipes, too--and many of the members who post on the boards are banded.)
Brighton Belle 0 Posted May 14, 2010 Paul O Brien's book The Lap-Band Solution was the best one for me-very comprehensive and it is my bible. The Lap-Band Solution Book, Dr. Paul O'Brien - Centre for Bariatric Surgery, Obesity Support Book and obvously available from Amazon
hamltmom 0 Posted May 15, 2010 I don't know if you are still looking for books on lap-band, but one that I found very informative was Weight-Loss Surgery for Dummies. I couldn't believe how well it covered everything and broke down and compared the difference in the different types of weight loss surgeries. As far as recipe books, I really like recipes for Life After Weight-Loss Surgery by Margaret M. Furtado and Lynette Schultz. It gives you the full Nutritional Analysis as well as when you are allowed to eat it post-op for each type of surgery. Good Luck to You!
