CARROTS?????.......raw carrots.... why can't we get stuck on chips ,chocolate, or ice cream??/ ....

I was stuck before...but this time, it really got stuck ..2 hours of rubbing, walking....and trying to make myself sick.

even before band I could never make myself sick!....you know when your not feeling very well and you want to get sick to feel better....... never worked!..... ..so, finally after 2 hours, I did vomit.... felt better right way...

so is getting sick the only way to get unstuck??? anyone else have this problem of not being able to make themselves sick?

I was thinking....damn .never thought I would be punished for eating carrots.....LOL..... I guess i wont be eating raw veggies ever again....

Oie! That really sucks, Im sorry...

I don't have a hard time at all bringing it back up, (not sure if that's a good thing or not:wink2:) here's my trick, so hopefully it helps you!

standing straight up, you bend your upper body down towards your legs. Almost like your bodys' an upside down V if that makes any sense? That will always help it come up for me. For others I've heard it helps the food move along and pass thru...

Good Luck!

I was never able to make myself throw up before, but since being banded, I've learned that if I force myself to cough, I eventually cough up the offending food.

I know its a bummer that some bad foods go down easy and some good foods just get stuck. One thing I do w/the bad foods is if I want some, I eat only a little at the end of a meal (so my pouch is already full). This way I can be satisfied on only one chocolate or a couple bites of sorbet.

Be really careful with raw carrots. they are one of the foods that when banded may cause you to need a complete unfill as they don't break down and when they are stuck they are stuck. If you have to eat them then grated is better than in chunks.

That is a great idea! I'll have to do that.

One of the tips I received was to drink a little bit of olive oil. Not sure if that will work on raw carrots. I believe I would just stay away from them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
