Filled!!!

Hi!

I got my first fill yesterday. I went to see Dr. Gonzales in Winston-Salem. $250.00 FYI

I really liked him a lot. He said I was an "easy stick." Got me on the first shot and put in 2cc.

I am not sure I have restriction - because I am on liquids & mushies - but here's hoping.

He said it was unrealistic to try and achieve my goal weight. He says that banders lose 50% of their excess weight. There are overachievers at 80% and under acheivers at 30%.

I told him I was gonna be an overacheiver. This was too darn expensive for anything else!

BTW - I asked him why a clearly asian person had a mexican name. He told me that it was NOT a mexican name, it was a SPANISH name. And it was because he is from the Phillipines who were invaded and conquered by the Spanish 300 years ago. They left their names behind. Hence, Eduardo Gonzalez.

:-)

FYI - I didn't feel much @ 2cc's I am at 2.2 and boy can I tell it. Now little Ms Kathy had a hard time with 2 at first so that just shows how everyone is so different. Good Luck on it!!!!

yay! I'm happy you are happy with Gonzalez. And thanks for asking him about being Chinese with a Mexican name (which is what he told me) so now he's Phillipino with a Spanish name...sounds down-right American to me!!!! :) haha

Yep, 2cc was too much at first for me, but I'm a "sweller" so I wasn't suprprised. Now, I'm supposedly back up to 2cc with my second fill and dong great with it.

Happy restriction Sherrie!! Here's to over-achieving!

Great Sherrie...let us know how your are feeling in a few days and if you have restriction. I'm not sure when I'm getting a fill. My six week mark is thanksgiving day. Up until this week I haven't really had much trouble controling my portions. My friend flo will visit soon and I'm curious to see if my appetitate goes back down after that. In the past I have always had trouble controlling my appetiate around that time.

I too want to be an over acheiver too..heck I want to prove them completely wrong and loose all my extra weight! I'm getting close to the 30% mark now...I better not be done there!

Melissa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
