Hello - My name is Tod Campbell and I have not lost any weight in the last 4 weeks. I was not frustraitied untill this morning, when I asked myself how long this stall could last. I still have over 120lbs to loose and have been banded for 3 1/2 months. I am at 8cc on my 10cc vanguard band and feel fair resriction. I am to go in Monday for another fill, but I don't know that I need it but probably will go ahead anyway becuase I'm not loosing any weight. Any suggestions to get the weight loss comming off again?

Hi Tod,

Yes, log your food into Fitday.com and see how many calories you are eating. My guess would be that its to much. Also, are you exercising? this could help you break your stall as well.

When you go for your fill, ask your Doctor how many calories you should be at and go from there.

I will check out fitday.com. Good advise, I will check with my doctor about the ammount of calories I should be taking in and track this better.

Thanks so much.

Tod

Hey Tod - I don't have a band, yet.

I have lost 8 lbs by just doing four things:

1) eat Breakfast (really, I drink a Protein shake) every day within 2 hours of getting up. (this covers enough Protein & even blood sugar levels)

2) drinking lots of Water

3) 30-45 minutes of cardio 4 days a week (treadmill, eliptical, bike)

4) no snacking after dinner.

I didn't do all this stuff at once - I worked up to it. I started with the Water & Breakfast, then I cut out the evening eating, then I joined the gym.

I eat pretty much whatever I want at lunch and try to keep the evening meal small. It is working...

Good luck!

:]

Tod I was on a 6 month plateau with zero weight loss. I started writing down everything I ate..in one month I lost 10 lbs. Journaling your food really does help. It keeps you accountable. There is something to be said about seeing what you eat on paper. It makes you make better choices.

Tod, I have not had my band long, but one thing my doctor recommends is always eating protein first at every meal, followed by some veggies, and then carbs. He stresses eating solids, as opposed to soft, mushy foods, and eating three meals a day with no more than one snack. (I know different people have different opinions about that, but that is what my doctor recommends.) What kinds of beverages do you enjoy drinking? Beware of juices and even milk because they are loaded with calories. Go easy on those choices. Also, make sure you are not drinking right before/during/right after you eat. It takes lots of Water to wash the fats out of our systems, so you might try increasing your Water intake for seven days and see if that helps. Good luck to you. A plateau can be discouraging. Keep up posted so we can cheer you on!!!

Tod, you will be successful!!!

One last thing...........get one of those flexible tape measures that ladies use for sewing and take your measurements. It is incredibly helpful to see the inches melt away even if the scale isn't moving much. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
