Hi All,

I have had my band since Dec. 2008 and have lost 70lbs so far. I was great until last December and since then I have had reflux something awful. I finally talked my doc into an upper GI. Prior to that I kept asking if the band might have slipped but the answer was always no. I did have some food stuck and have to vomit in December so I think I dislodged it. Anyway he called and the upper GI shows it has slipped. Surgery is scheduled for the 17th of May. I am so depressed that I have to start over. I wish he would have listened to me sooner. I have been complaining for 4 months. Any advice? Anyone had to have a "second go at it?"

Pattie

Yikes -- that is terrible, and I'm sorry you are going through this. Sounds like you have been doing really well with your band, and I am sure this won't set you back for long!

I've been throwing up for months now, sometimes up to 5 or 6 times a day, and my surgeon seems unconcerned. I'm in the same boat of wondering if something is not right. I have no reflux though, in my case I have either zero restriction and I can eat pretty much anything or one bite makes me hurl, depending on the day. Every suggestion I've made of looking into the problem has been shot down.

Once you have slipped you will most likely continually slip. I slipped and slipped less than a month later. I had revision surgery about 3 weeks ago. Hope that helps.

I had a slip & revision surgery on February 16th. I got the stomach flu the day after Xmas and began throwing up. I had just been banded on October 22nd so I was just two months post-op. Long story short, I just had my first fill on April 20th and it was only 4cc's so i have no restriction. i already gained 10lbs since my revision sugery & am scared that i've lose control & vision of my goal. I was so on track before, had lost 50lbs.... :scared2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
