Had given up on trying to lose after gastric bypass in 1994. Only lost about 20 lbs, but stayed relatively the same for 10 years (this was a first for me), but weight started creeping up again - about 10 lbs a year up to 290 on my first consultation in March with Dr Bagnato.

After reviewing records and doing an EGD, Dr B. put a band in on May 6.

With the pre-band diet, my bmi has gone down 2 points already. My first goal is to get the BMI down under the morbidly obese category.

Isn't Dr. Bagnato the best?! I was banded by him on April 30th. So far, I've lost 13 lbs since the surgery (just a little over a week ago). I'm excited about that loss, even though I wasn't really expecting it. Everyone says the first 6 weeks are for healing, not losing, so I figure those are just bonus lbs lost. Congrats on your pre-surgery loss and good luck with the band!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
