Teresita,

I've had this band for 3 months and each time I went for a fill,I had less Fluid in the band.I think I got a defective band to begin with.I've always had my fills with Dr Kuri,so no one else has messed with my band but him.He doesn't know why there is less fluid all the time but says he thinks I must have a slow leak.He didn't tell me where he thought it was leaking from.I think that Inamed will reimburse him for the band or the port and give him another one (not 100% sure) but he says he's charging me the "hospital's fee" for replacing it.In my opinion,it's unfair that I have to pay to replace a defective band.I just paid $9k 3 months ago!

As for eating,I am so stressed,I just don't want to eat,I'm afraid I'll gain back what I worked so hard to lose, but being stuck at this weight has me so discouraged too.:think I know I have to take in more calories,I'll work on that.Thanks.

Lisa, my first couple of fills seemed to lose a little bit of liquid but now it's okay. I wonder if it's that first fill syndrome?

Awwwww Lisa:hug:

I'm sorry, try writing him a letter detailing this same information about 3 months later you should not have to pay more money for something that did not work right in the first place. State in your letter that you don't have the finances for more surgery. Keep the tone of the letter peaceful and maybe he will do it for nothing. If you put it in writing he may think you will try to sue him later. There is nothing wrong with a little fear for motivation.

You are doing a great job so keep posting your food, count your calories, get in enough calories and EXERCISE. If you do these things you know you will lose weight and in time your band will be fixed. You don't have to wait for the band repair in order to lose weigh.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
