donS 0 Posted December 29, 2006 we live in Maryland. Just found the Maryland group here. My husband had surgery December 8th with Dr. Van Rueden and is doing great. They now have support group just for banders. He was advanced to mushy food a week early. He still doesn't eat much of it but likes the options. I am not a bander but love reading about everyones experiences and issues and sharing with very busy husband. I have my own weight demons but not at all in the morbid or obese criteria. Who doesn't? are there really people who can eat all the want and never gain weight?

sweetsue 1 Posted January 9, 2007 A lot of bandsters cannot eat chicken. This is because chicken is often just too dry. But I found that McDonald's salads with the grilled chicken are easy to eat because this chicken is really moist and goes down easy. Just thought I would share this little tid-bit with you all. Karen H 0 Posted January 9, 2007 i think sometimes all i eat is chicken, with fish becoming a very close second. Haven't had any red meat in, well, a very long time! I agree though about the dryness, it's gotta be a moist piece of meat! Hehehehehe. b: Atkins shake w/ nanner L: munched on some chicken strips D: chili is on the menu Water is my resolution. More and more Water. Gotta have the h20.

marys 2 Posted January 11, 2007 B: myoplex lite shake - 190 calories L: another shake or if i can eat - 2-4 egg whites (hard boiled) = 80 calories D: usually 1-2 cups of food depending on what will go down Still can't lose any weight! Can't imagine eating less - my stomach growls all day long and I wouldn't mind if i was skinny/skinnier - thinking of skipping dinner but i snow ski everyday and i am starving by dinner -
gunn4ya 0 Posted January 11, 2007 Marys - it sounds like you are not getting enough calories and your body is in starvation mode which basically means its holding on to everything its has to survive. Try getting those calories up to at least 800-1000.
marys 2 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi Tanya you are right but I started over a year ago at 1200-1500 and didn't lose then either! I appreciate your suggestion but I really have given up all hope. I just flip flop now between any and all wierd diets - just like before the band. I don't mean to be negative but I've become negative - and can hardly help it. I have and continue to try every type of diet/eating behavior that i see/read about etc. It's a crazy cycle that I thought the band would break but it has only added one extra layer of craziness - what can i eat today, what will go down at this meal, ugh - sometimes I think I will lose my mind. gunn4ya 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Marys, Dont give up yet perhaps its time for a fill. I noticed you were banded in 2005 and I was also banded that year. What me and my doc found out was that some of the fills we thought were going in didnt go in, he completely missed the port. So I would suggest talking to the doctor. I have a new doctor now and believe me he does not miss the port and I am really tight, since June I have continuously lost. And then you have to admit some of us are just slow losers. Are you excersing? I know when I was exercising at least 4 times a week the weight always dropped a pound or two. I have been lazy lately and am trying to get out of this no exercise rut. Stay with it, your band will work with you, give it time.
