Poodles here is a mushy that Erin the dietician posted.

mushies

A lot of pt's like the mashed cauliflower...kinda like mased potatoes but not as many carbs...Here's a recipe for it

Mock Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 cups cauliflower, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Steam or microwave cauliflower until very soft. Put cauliflower in blender or food processor with butter and sour cream, blend.
  2. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.

I also really like steamed carrots and green Beans until they were really mushy and put some of that spray on I Can't Believe it's not butter (seriously there's nothing in it...no calories, carbs, sodium, ...NOTHING) That gives it some buttery flavor without the guilt :)

Hope that helped!

Erin

Here is my list for today. Wanting approval, but may deserve a beating...

Breakfast: 2 bites egg

Lunch: Wendys Frosty and Small Chili

Snack: Baked Potato Chips- Chewed really well

Dinner: Small Wendys chili, and a half cup of green chili pork Soup

Snack: Low carb ice cream (Hey I got the low carb in here somewhere today)

Drank: 40 oz Water and 36 oz of peach tea.

Wow, I did horrible today, no wonder I am not dropping any weight. But now I have confessed and will do better tomorrow. Really think I am going to do better when I move to solid foods. Those eggs sat on my chest like a ton of bricks. Everything else just goes thru so smoothly.

Carbs are the devil...

To tell you the truth,I did think this band would be for a lifetime,at least that's what we are told at the orientation with the Dr.He probably forgot to mention,we will be paying to have new ones inserted every now and then through out our lifetime!

I'm not saying EVERYONE will have a complication, but there was a woman from India who had posted some information on another board. She says they've had the band there for quite some time now, and nearly everyone who's had it there for a significant amount of time has had some type of revision or removal of the band. Hey, maybe this is your complication and you're through!

But really, I didn't expect this to be permanent, to be honest with you. I just hoped it would last long enough for the next big medical miracle to come out. Heaven knows there's enough research being poured into it, with the new numbers on the lifespan of our children because of obesity.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
