Insurance dropped me!...please help!

Recommended Posts

I got the most horrible news today....after doing the six month supervised diet, psch, sleep test, and dietician...I just found out Medical Mutual insurance cancelled exactly on my 23rd birthday which was Saturday April 30th. They sent for approval on the 27th so will that count??? The good thing is that I started a new job on Monday May 3rd and my Anthem insurance starts on day one. But will they approve my surgery for June 1st? What are my options....PLEASE HELP ME! I am in tears...i am soooo upset and disappointed that I did all of this for nothing!

you did not do it all for nothing your new insurance is gonna have you doing the same things that your old insurance had you do so if you have to submit all your paperwork again your approval should go pretty quick.Don't give up hope you have come to far for that it may take you a little longer but you will get there.First thing I would do is call your insurance company and see if they are gonna pay if not go ahead and submit all your paperwork to the new company.

I wish you the best on your journey we are all here for you!!!!!!

I had a couple of setbacks in my process, too, and at first I felt discouraged. Then I realized that giving in to the discouragement was my usual pattern of sabotaging myself. So then I got mad, and have used the anger as healthy energy to move myself forward no matter what.

The new insurance will use the same stuff your old insurance did.

Don't give up!

Just pray that your new insurance does not have a no weight loss surgery clause. That is what happened to my daughter who went through 6 months of testing and counseling only to find out she was denied due to the clause her company put on her policy. I would check with both companies asap I don't believe your old insurance has to "honor" their approval I work with insurance companies all day at work and believe me they will do anything they can not to pay a claim. Authorization is not a guarantee of payment they tell me everyday. Good Luck.

I don't know if you're particular plan is different from mine, but I have Anthem BCBS and it has been a dream! No monitored diet, just a quick phone conversation with a nutritionist/psychologist and I was approved within three days! I was so worried, especially because I'm barely on the cusp of having the required BMI, but it really was exceptionally quick. So there's a good chance that you won't lose too much time and any time you have spent on the doctor monitored program is obviously a good thing in the long run!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
