I feel like I am Starving Post OP 6 Days

Recommended Posts

Hiya!

I was banded on 4/8/10 and am 1 day shy of a month post op! I found out day 2 post op that I could tolerate Myoplex chocolate and vanilla shakes. They are VERY thin and over the course of a day i could drink one and it was 42 grams of Protein that helped with that horrible hungry feeling. My doc had me skip the mushies all together and start on soft solids 2 weeks post op and it's been great.. :):w00t: just now starting to feel hungry a little in between but it's bearable.

I can also feel the port but as the doc described, its attached to muscle, so unless I get 1.5 % body fat, it won't be noticible, which is fine by me because Im not planning on entering any fitness expo anytime soon! lol

Hang in there you all are doing great!!

YAY for you all!!

Hugs,

heather

Cottage cheese and yogurt if your starving. It kinda liquidizes (is that a word? lol) anyway.

Just no bread or red meat for sure.

Mine is also right under my skin and does look like a large tumor before any weight loss at all. It scares the heck out of me that this won't get better on its own. It still hurts a lot too after more than three weeks. The doc keeps saying to wait and it will improve.

As to the OP - I've yet to be hungry. food smells really good to me and makes me want it, but no hunger pangs (or hunger pains for that matter) at all.

My port feels like its right under the skin I am scared to death that it is going to look like a tumor when I loose the weight!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
