Too hot to eat???

Recommended Posts

I went on vacation to Florida last month and found that, not only was my band extra tight, but I never got hungry.I thought it may have been because we were doing all the parks, and between all the walking and the heat, my band responded that way. Well now it seems Mass is actually starting to warm up, and I've been having the same problems (not hungry at all)... last summer I hadn't reached my sweet spot yet, so I didn't have a problem then. I wonder if my body will adjust to it being warm, or if I'll have to go for an unfill  Any thoughts?

Did you fly to Florida? If so, when we flew to Hawaii last summer my band tightened up so much I could barely eat. The good thing is I lost 20 pounds in a month!

Without the band I alway ate less in the warm weather. I think it's natural. I tell my friends and family that I am a cool weather cook. Here in Texas now, that means that meals are lighter, nothing gets baked, and some days we just do sandwiches or salads. When it's so oppressive here ...over 100 degrees we just moan and sip ice tea during the day, then run out for ice cream at night. My summer diets were usually successful but the weight came back over the winter. Coming from Mass it probably felt hotter than it did to natives so your body thought it was summer.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
