Donated 8 bags of too big clothes!

Recommended Posts

I don't post on here too often but I do read the threads all the time and find them very motivational and informative.

I just need to share a success that I know only this group will understand and appreciate as much as I do. This weekend, I decided to clean out my closet that was stuffed with clothes in many sizes (I know you can relate!). And I was so excited as I tried on piece after piece, that most were just too big! In the past I would have kept those clothes in case I needed them again if I gained weight which I usually did (I have been a yo-yo'er my whole adult life.) But this time I have made a commitment to NEVER gain significant weight again, so I donated 8 garbage bags of clothes to various charities. What a feeling of accomplishment!

My rate of weight loss has slowed a bit in the past few weeks which is frustrating, especially since I have been working out so hard. This was a great reminder that it's not all about the scale - there are other ways to see your success too.

Now it's time for a little shopping to replenish my closet. (But nothing too expensive because I am not done yet!)

Awesome. I had a lot of fun doing that. I went looking for jeans in 22's today at goodwill. I hate paying much for something that will not fit for long.

Great! I had lots of sizes in my closet too. I am down to the smallest now. I have 2 large bags of clothes for my sister. Goodwill for inbetween clothes is a great idea. Why spend a lot of money on something that won't fit for long. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations! Feels great, doesn't it? Don't forget to keep one or two items so you can take a good "Jared" after pic!!

I have been doing the same thing. One of my friends can wear all of them and I'm sending them on to her. My SIL is sending me her clothes that I'm just now beginning to get into, so I don't have to buy anything.

Don't forget about ebay! It's a GREAT way to make money that will help you buy your new clothes. I'm big into donating also but I think this huge overhaul could get expensive! (banded April 28, 10) If you type in "Size 22 Jean lot" you can often find a group of jeans, not just one pair...for the same price as a new pair. Just a thought...

That is so awesome! I've been stubborn about buying new clothes, because I still have a ways to go. I've just been wearing baggy clothes, but I can't get away with that much longer...

Keep up the good work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
