Banded Bond

I am the one who

had the courage

to start something big.

I am the one who

wakes up early to

go for a run.

I am the one who

eats yogurt with granola

and cottage cheese instead

of a fried meal.

I am the one who

chooses to

turn away cake.

I am the one who

quit smoking because

it was the right thing to do.

I am the one who

drinks Water like it's

going out of style.

I am the one who

chooses wisely,

every step I take.

I am the one who

takes my Vitamins

every morning.

I am the one who

eats my Protein first

at every meal, skipping

my beloved carbs.

I am the one who

keeps going back to

the gym.

My friend, The Band,

is the one who helps me

along the way.

But The Band can't

taste success.

The Band can't look

in the mirror and giggle in

disbelief at the new person there.

The Band can't

register for a 5K and

get me there on race day.

The Band can't hang

smaller-size jeans in my kitchen

for visual goal-setting.

I am the one who can succeed.

And I do succeed.

And The Band helps me along the way.

You are also the one who inspired me to start running and train for my own 5k. Thank you.

I can't tell you how happy this makes me, Leigha!

I was having a little fight with my band over who is doing all the work. I had to sit down and have a talk about how much work I'm doing, and how I want the credit for it! Heh.

I heard that dismissive voice of "others" saying, "Well, she got the band. That's how she's losing the weight." So, instead of screaming, I wrote a poem. Heh.

This makes me think of a saying we have in the car business.

"If it was easy everyone would do it."

Way to give yourself a pep talk, I really have to do that sometimes. Its very effective.

I’m a newbie here and with my band. I enjoyed the poem. Although I’m not ready to start running this morning I was took by your poem.

I got my band on 4/28.

Great poem, and I can identify with a lot of it.

Unfortunately, I could write the opposite one

I am the one who chose toast for Breakfast

I am the one who had that piece of cake in the staff room

I am the one who skipped lunch

I am the one who then ate more cake because she was hungry

And I am the one who is having Pasta for dinner

My band is not defective (was a finger press away from dialling for a fill today). My choices are.

But I *AM* the one who ran 3kms at lunchtime training the the grade 3 to 6's for cross country and I *AM* the one who just got off the treadmill from doing another 4.

Thanks for reminding me.

That poem was great and I really needed to see it today. Thanks for putting down exactly how I feel.

Aw, thanks, gang! I wanted to share because I figured it would apply to other folks here.

I told my surgery secret to another person on Saturday night (I'm pretty secretive about my band, and only maybe 10 people know) and she responded very favorably, so that made me feel great. But I still feel like I have to tell everyone about not having restriction yet. I feel like I want every bit of credit I can get, because so many other folks out there will assume it's the easy way out.

Needless to say, I'm still wrestling with the emotional angle of surgery. Heh.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
