They're not really shakes, but I mix unflavored Protein with Crystal Light, no sugar added fruit juices diluted with 1/2 Water, broth and cream Soups. I find that very little if any taste is added and they go down great.

What brand of unflavored Protein are you using. I'm in Canada and spent most of the day yesterday looking. From many years experience with protein powders, I know some don't mix as well as others. With unflavored - can you cook with it - or only add to cooked foods? Any insight would help..............

I use Ultimate Nutrition ProStar natural flavor Protein. It has 25 grams of Protein per serving. You can get it here Ultimate Nutrition or via Amazon too. I've not cooked with it, but am told (here in a post) that it's not a good idea because it turns into a gooey mess.

What brand of unflavored protein are you using. ... can you cook with it ...

I use unflavored Unjury, you can order it online at Unjury.com. It's okay, not to thick.

Hi Ellen,

I recently purchased unflavored Unjury and have been afraid to use it because the packs are soo big:eek:..... I did try using it in a 16.9 oz bottle of Water with a sugarfree hawaiian punch packet and it tasted horrible!!! It tasted like penicillin and I gagged as I tried to drink it!!

Do you use the ENTIRE packet in one serving? What are some other options with it?

I add unflavored Protein powder to Soups and broths and chili. You have to be careful to temper the Protein when you do this so it doesn't get all clumpy and gross. To do this, you first mix it with cool to tepid Water to form a paste. Then, you very slowly stir in the heated liquid.

You can't reheat, or the protein denatures (gets clumpy)---so you have to do this in single servings.

I also add unflavored protein to yogurt and fat-free cottage cheese to bump up the protein.

My favorite way to use it, currently, is to mix it with warm almond milk, good-quality vanilla extract (Nielsen-Massey or Penzey's), and a bit of Splenda. I really, really like this.

I also use it in other smoothies---I like to blend together Protein Powder, kefir (kind of like pourable yogurt), inulin Fiber (such as FiberSure--it contains prebiotics that help the Probiotics in the kefir happily populate the intestine), a little Splenda, a little vanilla, about a quarter cup canned pumpkin (not the pie filling, just the plain pumpkin) and a good dash or four of pumpkin pie spice.

This is a VERY filling--and really tasty--smoothie that does the trick for me when I really want something dessert-like. Delicious. And pumpkin is so good for you.

Hi Betsy,

Thanks so much for the info. You've given me lots of great ideas. In fact I use the Almond milk and am going to try that right now. Never would have thought to use the canned pumpkin. What brand of unflavored Protein are you using. I've just bought a soy Protein. Thanks again.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
