Rude people

Recommended Posts

My best friend and I went grocery shopping yesterday. She is visually impaired and I am totally blind.

We have a shopping cart which folds, which we use to carry things home in, since neither of us can drive. It was folded up, and I was carrying it, holding it close to my right side.

We were walking down an aisle, I forget what we were looking for, when a woman started pushing past us. She hit our cart, not hard, but she kept trying to get past.

My friend said, "Hey, lady, cool it!"

She snapped, "I wasn't going to run you down!"

"It sure looks like it," my friend answered, to which the woman responded, "Oh, f*** you!"

I turned then, and said, "Hey, watch your language." And she told me to shut up. I asked her what her problem was, then asked if she'd had nails for Breakfast. She said something I can't remember, and somehow managed to get past us. I think she must have gone around on the left, which let me know she could have done that in the first place. . My friend followed her, saying she should be ashamed of herself for talking to anyone that way, let alone someone with a disability. The woman spat out her apology, which I said Ididn't want. She didn't have to say what she did to my friend. I can use that kind of language with the best of them, but that was totally unnecessary.

There had been a similar incident with a cashier at the same store, with that same person. She told the cashier she was no good, and that if she'd been in charge of things, the cashier wouldn't have a job. My friend had been present for that, and spoke up in defense of the cashier, who wanted to just let the incident pass. .

I don't like to play the race card, but the cashier was black, and so am I.

I started a thread about racism on the LBT Rants and Raves, and don't want to repeat that, I simply wanted to vent. I laughed at the situation, because it amazes me that someone who sounded as old as she did, seemed to just want to fight. If you've read this far, thank you.

Debbie.

My favorite thing to do in these situations is to remind myself that I get to go home and be me and that person has to be them for the rest of their lives. Most times I cant think of a worse punishment for them. And usually these people are rude to people of every color. They are so miserable that they try and drag others down with them. Plus, responding with F_U means you know your wrong and there is no way to defend your actions.

I hope you have a better day today.

The world is full of all kinds. I like the way Leigha looks at it. Geez, some people .........

Don't let it get you down.

Thank you Leigha and Humming Bird. I couldn't help laughing at her, because her reaction was just so unnecessary. She must be a very unhappy person.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
