How long does bloating last?

Recommended Posts

Ahhh.., the taste and bad breath I about forgot. Sometimes I think I have hair growing on my teeth. I think amongst other things, my fuzzy teeth may be from not chewing.

I have go brush my teeth again:wink2:

Banded on the 29th too, the bloating is better today. On Saturday, I was really wondering what I had done!! But I realized yesterday that I was trying drink to much at one time. The "sip, sip sip" routine may sound cheesy, but it's the gospel!!

Such a learning curve!!.

Had staples removed and replaced w/ steri-strips today. Amazing what a difference getting the metal out makes!

Looking forward to my Protein Shakes again!!

Day 4...out!

Hello all. I was banded on 4/29 and have been dealing with the bloat and gas as well. These seem to be so much worse than dealing with any pain I have.

My doc said I was okay to leave my overnight hospital stay on pureed foods and I have done Protein shakes and pureed's. I have tolerated it well so far and am greatful because I am not having the lack of energy that some of you are having.

I am hoping that this is the right tool for me but so far so good!

Good luck to us all, new and old.

For some reason my bloating got worse again today... My first day back to work and by mid day I was a gas machine...thankfully I can step away when needed...

Kerbear... the fuzzy teeth definitely one of the unpleasant side effects...

Banded on the 29th of April. No pain whatsoever from surgery, just the bloated feeling or gas if you will. Walk, walk and walk some more......then gasx........then walk, walk and walk some more. The gas has definitely moved for me and does more frequently when i walk!!!

Hi All,

I was also banded on the 28th and am on my last day of Clear liquids, hurray! I've never dreamed of yogurt or oatmeal until now. haha

On my follow up visit (this past Saturday) the Doc told me to drink a Fiber supplement to get things moving in the #2 dept if you know what I mean. He said all of the gas rising in the body is causing the discomfort and going #2 would let the air and contents escape. So that afternoon I bought strawberry kiwi flavored "Benefiber" at Target and mixed into a bottled Water as directed. Sure enough 2hrs later I was taking care of business...although mostly "airing out". After 6 more visits to the restroom the discomfort is gone and I'm much better.

Sorry for the gory facts but I firsthand know how you feel and want to help.

14lbs down as of this morning!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
