Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, new to this site and would like to ask how long bloating lasts and if that does effect weight. I got banded last week Apr 28 2010 and on clear Fluid diet and weight hasn't moved. thanks for any feedback.

I was banded on the 28th too. And still very bloated feeling. I have been walking and taking gasx but still no real relief. My weight is down 5 lbs since surgery. Overall 24 lbs since preop.

:rolleyes2:I guess everybody goes through it, i'm just wondering when it will go away - i feel like somebody blew up a beach ball in my stomach. Gas is still a problem but am walking around as well - however it does hurt if you take too big of a gulp of Water or juice. Hang in there in sunny Florida! and thanks for your feedback.

I was banded on the 28th too. Man that bloating feeling is probably been the biggest drawback of this whole thing. It is getting better. But sometimes when I do take a drink I get more pressure and feel some gurgling in the belly.

I am really looking forward to getting back to a more normal lifestyle. Honestly to this point I am not 100% sure I have done the right thing.

I am a pretty active person and am feeling a big time lack of energy. Anyone else? Any ideas?

Tony, if you are only drinking fluids that might be a cause for low energy - I know I have energy around the house but when I try to go out I feel all of a sudden zapped of energy and want to get home. I'm moving on to fuller liquids tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. still bloated.

Tony:

I was banded on the 26th and I definitely agree. I have found the bloating to be the worst part so far. The pain is subsiding and even then, I can deal with it; but the bloating just makes me constantly uncomfortable. Hard time sleeping, and most definitely affects my energy level. I have also wondered a few times if I made the right decision...

Overall, I'm pretty anxious and excited about the whole thing.. but some days are hard for sure. Looking forward to not feeling bloated (it's already been a whole week!) and resuming normal life.

I was also banded on April 28th and for me, every day I've gone down as far as the bloating. Yesterday I looked pregnant and looked horrible but just made a joke about me and the baby going to Walmart. Today it was down significally. :-) Hang in there and give it all time. It's normal.

Banded the 27th and my bloating seemed to go down today as well- not 100% back to pre-op but I don't feel like I will float away either. The low energy really hit today. I went out and bought a Vitamin Water zero that was B fortified and some egg drop Soup. I strained the egg drop soup so only broth was left and drank about a cup over the course of the day... I felt like I needed some Vitamins and fats... and believe it or not I feel A LOT better!!! Best $3.50 I have spent in a long time (soup and vitamin water)..

I too was banded last week, the 29th and feel that the bloating is significantly less. The gas on the other hand, is horrible. I take gasx, walking all the time, and although it is less, it is still there. Sometimes, I feel like I am having a heartattack, because that one pocket keeps going up under my heart and lungs. Heating pad works wonders though. Good luck ya'll!

I too was banded 4/28/2010 and feel that the bloating is significantly the worse side effect. I sometimes feel like I am having a heart attack, because gas pocket keeps going up under my heart and lungs, the heating pad works good. I was also suffering a case of Constipation which I took milk of magnesia for. Once the blockage was gone the gas was not near as bad.

I was feeling a little weak yesterday but today I drank a Muscle Milk Protein Drink and it has seemed to help. I also drank a Water with Greens ( from Costco) it gave me the hiccups.

So far I have lost 8 lbs

I was banded on 4-29-10. Glad to hear I'm not the only one dealing with bloating and energy. I am CONSTANTLY tired! Now that I know I'm not alone, I'll hope it goes away soon.

Callous,

I cannot even imagine having hiccups. I had two today ( I think I drank too much) and they hurt. That gas pocket in my chest is a booger that won't go away! I too did the M.O.M and will take more tonight. Good luck!

Kelley

I’m doing better today, thank you, at least no hiccups and I haven’t had the greens with my Water today either.

It’s allergy season and I think sneezing hurts worse than the hiccups.

Hi Everyone, I was banded on April 28th and yup i'm still bloated, hicupping and have that terrible pain in my chest when I drink Water too fast! Heck at least I know for sure now that this is normal!! I do have a weird taste in my mouth though (prob from the Protein shakes) and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I have been brushing my teeth alot and sometimes a sugar free mints helps. Thanks!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
