Shrinking Sam 1 Posted May 2, 2010 Hi, I found this site pre-op and came here to build excitement, but am just now joining. I was banded Thursday the 29th (on my birthday!). I'm a overwhelmed by all that is involved, especially concerning eating. Any hints, tips, ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, I'm super bloated and having tons of shoulder pain (I guess from gas). I'm hopeful this works for me. Anyways, Hello to everyone. So glad to be here! Welcome to banded living. I'm 4 years out and maintaining. I spend a lot of time paying it forward. I'm here to help. Your doctor probably already told you that the shoulder pain is common, and as someone already said on this thread the best thing to do is walk. There is a lot to learn, but my best advice is to take your time, work with your doctors office and learn from other patients like you are doing here! I also have a blog (see my signature below) where I share my experiences and tips. Several surgical practices have begun recommending it as a support resource. I hope you find some useful ideas there. Congrats on takinging charge of your health! Edited May 3, 2010 by atgoalgal
Callous 0 Posted May 3, 2010 It’s my understanding the shoulder pain and bloating is from the gas used to expand the stomach cavity area to get the band on. I had my surgery on 4/28/2010 and still have a little shoulder pain. Actually last night it was pretty bad. But I’m not taking any pain meds. They seem to give me an intestinal cramping, so it just wasn’t worth taking any longer than the second day. BTW a heating pad on the shoulder helps with the pain.
