crystal light and the companion ocean spray. expand your definition of "broth"...I detest plain chicken broth from the box, but pull the broth off of a minestrone or other "real" soup...[basque Cabbage, anyone?] and its really satisfying.

Actually, Swanson broth in the can is what Ive been living off of. Vegetable and beef only, cant stand the chicken anymore.

Actually made homemade Miso Soup today. IT was AWESOME!

Did you just strain all your broths from Soups I assume?

I really liked having sugar-free popsicles on hand.

Any of those powdered sugar free packets you can add to Water.... propel, wyler's etc...

I second Betsy on the popsicles- my throat was very sore from the anesthesia tube so they helped a lot....

Had my surgery last Monday (4/26). My surgeon (part of a bariatric practice working out of a large teaching hospital) and his staff have recommended Clear liquids for only 2-3 days post-op if things go well, then on to "mushies." I've ben following their program very closely. Crystal Lite and sugar free popsicles are a must. Pre-op I like Muscle-Milk Lite (chocolate), if you need a tasty Protein shake.

Good luck!

During the clear liquid phase I used New Whey Protein bullets to keep me satisfied. The ones I got had 42g of protein and were only 3 1/2 oz each. During full liquids I really liked cream of chicken Soup. I spiced it up with a little pepper, sage and garlic powder. It was so yummy that my daughter took it to work for lunch.< /p>

I had my surgery on Thursday and am now eating liquids. I have even pureed chicken noodle (healthy choice) and added a little Water, and had high Fiber oatmeal (pureed made with twice the milk and today I am adding whey to it) I also strained it. I figured, since they gave me this in the hospital, I could have it? It is hard getting enough Protein in though I must say. I barely eat, and drinking water, and this make me not hungry. The gas is dissapating though FINALLY. GET A HEATING PAD for your shoulders and lower back. GOOD LUCK!

Crzy.... I tried the orange New Whey and almost gagged and I am afraid to try the other ones... any flavors that stood out for you? I use the ProSlam45 bullets now but they only come in fruit punch and I would love a flavor change...

While you are at it, pick up some Liquid Tylenol and Liquid Motrin (this is probably going to be the children's) so you've got that covered too.

I used the tropical punch (only flavor I bought). It is really tart, but since it is only 3 1/2 oz and I only had to drink 1 usually a day, it wasn't too bad. My dad used them and still uses them after he had his bypass last year. Some people mix them with Crystal Lite, but I just drank my straight, one sip at a time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
