Thanks Jen, for reminding me! LOL, I was just sitting here thinking that Wed will be here REALLY fast! I have only 3 more days of liquids. Went and got my Isopur powder today for post op Clear Liquids.

BUT, then again, I jumped on the scale this morning and I am down 31 lbs since my first visit and about 23 of that is my pre-op!

So, seeing the results is making me excited and scared all at the same time!

Everything you describe is perfectly normal. Until you reach good restriction you will most likely have most of those same feelings and you may even have regrets for the first couple of months. It is all about restriction! Once you get there and your band begins working and you begin losing you will feel it was the best thing you have ever done and ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.

Not gonna lie: I'm having a "Last Supper Month"

I even made it an event on FB and invited the friends that know I'm getting banded. I want to enjoy things that I haven't tried w/o worrying about restriction, etc. before I have to go on liquids and mushies and then can only eat a little at a time.

Also (I'm not really nervous about this but) everyone seems to think I'm going to be the ONE person in 10,000 (or w/e the statistic) to die. LOL  I know I prob shouldn't laugh at their concern but I feel like it's more about scaring me out of it b/c they think I'm making the wrong choice:scared2:. But so far, I'm not really nervous...

I am definitely nervous about the dying aspect of it all. Trying to spend as much time as possible with my family this weekend!!!(just in case) That so motivates me when I hear of other people that have lost 100lbs so far that is awesome!!!!! When you hear people question you and the questions they ask it does make you second guess yourself. Good luck to all upcoming bansters!!!!!

Monday is the big day for me too! I also am nervous now that it is almost here. But......I think that is normal girls! Let's all say some prayers for each other the next few days.... that we all come thru this safely. I have been on Protein liquids for almost 2 weeks, but today & tomorrow I get to change it up! I get to have......clear liquids only for today & tomorrow (broth, diet Jello, popsicles etc.) And tomorrow I have to do the golytely prep, you know the kind you do when you have a colonoscopy to clean out. Anyone else have to do this? I am not complaining....I am just wondering why we would have to do this for lapband (I understand if it was bypass.) Anyway hang in there, we are all on our way now. It used to seem like a dream that it was really ever gonna happen. I think I am in shock or denial that it is finally really almost here! Good luck to everyone & here's to all of us!! We are really gonna do this! By this time next year, we will all me skinny-minnys! Yay us!!!!

May 3rd for me to! So exciting! DottieAnn - I was suppose to do the colon clensing thing to, but I am at work tonight and tomorrow night and to be running to a bathroom would have been horrible! So, he put me on the Clear Liquids so I am starting it tonight. My kids and husband had church music rehersal this morning and some of the ladies were there knitting prayer shawls. So now I have a beautiful shawl to take with me Monday and keep it close knowing that whatever may happen it is in God's hands. I know we will all be successful with surgery! Hopefully we can all post after surgery and see how we are all doing. Take care and prayers to all of you co-May 3rd'ers.

Hi,

I had my surgery last Wednesday. I had all the feelings you are having now. I just decided that I would need to make it work and its all in my head and hell I was just going for it. My surgery went very well (Dr. Michael Feiz). My pain has been minimal as long as you keep the pain meds in and don't lapse. I am on liquid Tylenol now. Also follow doctors orders exactly for optimal results when it comes to the liquid diet and walking after. I think this has helped a lot. I have had no nausea and no vomiting at all. The only thing I felt uncomfortable with besides the shoulder pain is some gas in the stomach and a tightness in the stomach from internal swelling. The incision pain wasn't bad. Drink something warm if this happens, like chicken broth or tea. I do not feel hungry at all and I am watching my family prepare food. I usually just go upstairs while they are eating, but today I sat with my kids as they ate and it didn't really bother me. Again I just keep telling myself this is the way it has to be for now. I had many many years of eating what I wanted and that is what made me fat. So now I am working on getting thin. This beats trying to diet without restriction. Sure there will be tough times, I can see that but I am sure it will be worth it. Hang in there and good luck!

I am being banded on Tuesday the 4th. Been on pre op diet for 2 weeks and after day 4 I have been ok. I am a little scared, but what can be worse than facing a future of being heavier-scale going up and up and more medical issues or gettting back to being ME! There is a skinny girl inside just screaming to get out!!LOL! I believe it will all be for the better to being healthier AND happier with ourselves!! Good luck to you all!

Good luck everyone! I wasn't nervous until they hooked me to the IV and started to prep me for surgery (including the blood thinners and taking blood for tests, etc). My only advice is this: WALK- I didn't have any post-op gas pains and I think it was because of the walking. Also, take the pain medicine if you're hurting. I know that sounds obvious, but for whatever reason, I got it stuck in my head that I should "tough it out", and spent most of the first post-op day in pain.

You have already lost 41 pounds since being banded mid-March? Did you start losing before the pre-op? That is an awesome loss! Congrats! Advice would be welcome!!!!

hello all.

I'm having my op on Wednesday, I'm in Glasgow in Scotland so probably quite far from you all in distance but expect the op is the same. I'm not nervous but I am REALLY hungry, this pre-op diet would test anyone! Am thinking of you all going through your ops this week - I'll let you know how I get on!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
