Anyone wear Spanx?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering--saw them in a store and didn't know what they were, then watching Oprah's jeans and bra revolution show yesterday, she said she wears them.....

Anyone try them? Like em? Hate em? I think I need em!

I saw them on the home shopping channel back when we still had cable. They are a body shaping thing that look really comfortable.

They look soft and almost like pantyhose, but are thicker than pantyhose. There are different colors to choose from too, and I believe they only come down to your knees - so you could wear them under shorts, pants, and skirts alike.

Hope this helps. They look like a good product.

I've seen them on QVC and on Oprah yesterday. I have not tried them but I know Catherines carries something like them.

Well, I just decided I am going to get three of the styles and see how much better I look. I do have an all in one bra thing that I wear, and it makes me look soooo much better than if I am just in my undies and regular bra, but wowza, I can't wait to get home and get out of that thing at the end of the day! It's like "BOING!!!!!!!!!!"

Have to carefully explain to DH that I want Spanx for Christmas---ha ha ha ha

I have the power panties, and they honestly seem no more supportive to me than a good pair of control top pantyhose or tights. I have ordered one of the strapless camis, but I am still waiting to receive that. BTW, they seem to have larger sizes available on their web site.

I'm wearing my first pair of Spanx pants today. Usually I wear a 1X, but their 1X is huge; so I called them and they actually told me to go 2 sizes smaller; today I have on a Large; they are nice; very comfortable.

Oh my goodness...someone post a link, hurry!!!! LOL

Is that what Oprah had on when she was trying on jeans with Stacy? Is Stacy London not the skinniest little-assed thing you have EVER seen?! She scares me! She looks like my 6yo daughter, but taller!!!

That stuff just does not look even the least bit comfy to me. Did you see the cami with the thing under the armpit, ouch. I'd feel like I was in a vice.

I just got my Spanx in the mail today. I went out on a limb and ordered 4 pair of the control 'panties'. I tried them on and love them. Word of caution if you order -they run pretty big. My mom said the sell them on QVC sometimes and they are cheaper there.

Good luck.

I have a couple pair and used them more in the summer. You know when you wear the long summer dresses. Anyway I got them on E-Bay (new). In Winter since I am looking for warmth I will be investing in Thermal anything to go under my outfits.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
