Help!!! 4th day of Pre-op Diet

Recommended Posts

I started the Pre-op diet on Tuesday, I have not yet been scheduled for surgury, but I know it will be the week of May 10 or 17. I have not been able to talk to any one at the Dr's office to get the acurate diet so I have doing what I have read here. But I am hungry. Does anyone have any ideas as to what eat in between meals to keep you satified? Please help with any advice that you would like to share with me. Thanks

What is allowed on your pre-diet? Is it a clear liquid diet or some other variation? As for being 'satisfied' during the pre-op diet phase, I never was. sugar free popcicles helped some, but not much. It's short-term though so you can get through it. Just keep on thinking of the goal you're after and good luck.

I was allowed to have sugar free Jello, Sugar Free Jello, and Natural Applesauce (no Sugar added). Which helped me considerably during those two weeks!

I never thought it would happen to me...I have such a phobia to feeling hungry but I never was completely satisfied on my pre op 10 day diet. I did drink a lot more. That did help. I honestly believe the SF popsicle helped a lot as well. And I lived! I took it one day at a time and looked back at what I had accomplished. YOU CAN DO THIS!

By the way, I was allowed two Protein drinks per day....one Protein snack and three SF jellos and/or Sf popsicles and all the Crystal light and Water I wanted. I LOVE crushed ice and used that as well as my favorite Starbucks cup to carry around with me.

I was not so hungry come day 5. I just kept up the protein..it does help. this is coming from a carb addict!! I would have an ultimate Protein Shake in the morning, broth mid moring, another Protein shake-that I makde int a pudding for more filling, another cup of broth mid afternoon and for dinner I could have 4 oz of lean meat and a 1/2 cup of non startchy veggies. did alot of grilled chicken and lettuce salads. I did drink constantly-either Water or crystal light. I was able to have sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles-2 of each a day.

I am ready. My surgery is Tuesday.

My surgery is Tuesday as well and I fell off the wagon today. I was GREAT until dinner time and I started to feel sick. I caved and ate a piece of pizza before I even knew what I was doing. I imediately regretted it.

So angry at myself but I am drinking a ton of Water and getting right back on the wagon and I know that it wont happen again. I dont want to jeopardize the surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
