In my opinion, it is not the "easy way out". Yes, we tend to lose faster than those who are just dieting, and we have a built in hunger control tool. However, I just don't think that getting a needle stuck into your stomach every 8 weeks or so, sometimes vomiting (if it's too tight) having bad reactions to some food/drink (I can't drink a fully carbonated soda, I have to wait until it's semi-flat or it irritates my stomach), and other things that go along with this procedure should qualify it as the easy way out.

Then again, I don't think there is any easy way out once you're morbidly obese.

lol, not blind. I just don't see the difference between one rude remark and another. Pure and simple.

I see my choice as the easy way. Sorry. I am not offended by others seeing and saying the same thing. Why would I be? I have about a 30% better chance than my sweet friend who is on the same journey without the band.

Looking for excuses to be offended is the waste of time in my opinion. Putting the focus on the outside world reather than focussing on myself and my journey would be a waste of time, and counterproductive.

Where that is considered rude, is also beyond me. Rude is making comments about others where they cannot defend themselves.

Missy, the only one who is being rude on this thread is you. Evidently, I am not the only one who has come to that conclusion. Unfortunately, you seem to be one of those rare individuals on this site who love to create drama out of nothing. That is very sad.

Regardless, best of luck on your weight loss journey.

This morning I thought of a saying that we have in the car business.

"If it was easy everyone would do it."

Maybe I'm the odd one out here but I don't think this is the easy way out at all.

-I still crave foods I can't have.

-I still want to snack between meals.

-I still feel guilty if I cheat.

-I still have to count calories.

-I still have to eat lo cal, lo fat, lo carb foods.

-I still have to force myself to exercize.

-I still have to force myself to drink 64 oz of Fluid.

-I still have to cut out most carbs and starches.

Sounds like every other diet I've been on!

I don't think it's easier than other weight loss plans, but there are advantages to having the band: limited portions, keeping hunger at bay, helping prevent re-gain, and you can't quit! But like everyone else in the world trying to lose weight it still comes down to willpower and lifestyle changes.

Easy implies I have to do nothing at all--we all know we work at weightloss even if it is simply working on good choices.

I did WW and lost--twice and twice gained the weight back and then some.

WLS surgery is treatment--we do not tell critically ill patients like cancer not to seek the best care they can get. I saw morbid obsesity as critical and that it was time to get help. Call it easy or whatever you like, but what you want call me is obese one day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
