So how did it go Nean4488? Your surgery was yesterday. Was it uneventful?

Mine was monday... it went really well. The only problem was I couldnt pee before surgery... hello they tell you not to drink after midnight and then I pee when i wake up.. there wasnt much going on after that... so after about 45 min of trying they had my sign something that said I wasnt pregnant and there was no possible way I could be.

I was there from 6-11am.. I am so glad i didnt have to stay the night, I was ready to get out of there, when i woke up they told me to take a nap, i laughed and made myself stay up, i was ready to go home!

I was having a lot of shoulder pain, it was really bad, it had me crying. It pretty much went away though, right now theres a consent pain in my shoulder and im not sure if its because of gas or its because I lay on it at night.

I dont need my pain meds, although i do take tylenol at night so I get a better night sleep. My port is a bit troublesome. It feels like its ripping everything inside my stomach! blah.... I just hope that goes away soon. When i sneeze, cough, or laugh, omg pain pain pain! Other then that everything is going great! Not hungry at all though, having to force myself to eat and drink and when i do my stomach feels like its going to explode.

Ok- so today has been extra hard. I'm on my last day of mushies… and starving.

( I have braces and got them tightened yesterday… that does not help)

I've been having tons of Protein but still nada. Still hungry! What the heck is going on. I know I hvnt had a fill but still I shouldn’t be this hungry. I get full pretty quickly but an hour later I'm hungry again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I start reg foods tomorrow. I'm hoping that I will be able to stay fuller longer. I know I'm only supposed to be eating 3 times a day. But man this week has been so hard. Mushies was a horrible stage for me :w00t:

I'm going to GNC to weigh myself tonight. I like to go there because they give me a print out of my weight and BMI. I like to keep them for my records

But I need suggestions seriously.

I guess I know what they're talking about when I read on threads about BANDER HELL! I hope I'm not a permanent resident here:eek:

The port will become less sensitive and the pain in the shoulder and the surgical soreness will go away with mobility. It worked for me. If you shoulder is hurting, there is gas that is still trapped. It's common but I didn't have it on this surgery. Other surgeries have been awful though. Good luck and move around as you can. Chat soon. Mikissa

I wasn't told to do a liquid diet or anything before surgery. My surgery is on Monday. I wonder why??

Some Dr.s don't have you do it. The reason behind the pre op diet is to make the liver shrink. This makes it shrink about 25%. Some Dr's. have gotten away from the diet these days. Be glad if yours is one of them. I know you probably feel lost listening to everybody whine about it on here. Ha ha ha

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
